Botox™, Dysport™, and Xeomin™are botulinum toxins (type A) that cause the injected muscles to temporarily "relas" so that they no longer contract and cause fine lines and deep wrinkles to form. Botox™, Dysport™, and Xeomin™also block nerve impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that are directly related to expression lines. After the procedure/treatment, the skin overlying the treated area becomes smooth. The untreated muscles will contract as usual and leave normal facial expressions. The effects of Botox™ are apparent (7-14 ) days after treatment, the effects of Dysport™ and Xeomin™are (4-14) days after treatment, and the effects usually last (3-4) months. Periodic retreatment will be necessary to maintain the effects of Botox™, Dysport™ and Xeomin™. Repeated treatments may lead to temporary loss of muscle tone in the treated area, bruising, facial asymmetry, or temporary paralysis which could lead to droopy eyelid and double vision. Some patients may develop antibodies to Botox™ after consecutive usage or over usage.
As we age, we naturally lose subcutaneous fat. Our muscles are then working closer to the skin surface, causing lines and wrinkles to become more apparent. The skin also stretches, adding to this loss of volume. Other factors that affect the facial skin include sun exposure, heredity attributes, and lifestyle. Cosmetic dermal fillers are used for correcting moderate-to-severe volume loss apparent with wrinkles and skin folds. Increasing fullness of lips, cheeks, chin, under eye, jawline, temples, and back of the hands. Dermal fillers help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face.
