Neck bands or lines are called platysmal bands which are caused by the platysma muscle, which can become stretched out and droop with age. When the muscle contracts when you grimace or make certain facial expressions, it can cause vertical bands to form. Botox prevents the platysma from contracting, thereby smoothing the bands and the neck. The areas between the bands can also be treated with microinjections. The injections last 3-4 months then will need to be retreated. Neck Botox is a big trend and only getting bigger.
