Sometimes, the most effective treatments come from within. Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a regenerative approach to aesthetic care, using your body’s own concentrated platelets and growth factors to restore collagen, encourage cellular turnover, and improve skin and hair quality over time. At Ageless Aesthetics, we use PRF in multiple ways: as a stand-alone injectable treatment, paired with microneedling, and as part of layered protocols for scars, undereyes, and hair restoration.
Unlike PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), PRF is spun at a lower speed and contains more white blood cells and fibrin, allowing for slower release of growth factors and longer-lasting regenerative effects. It’s an ideal option for those who prefer a natural, minimally invasive way to support skin repair, reverse early signs of aging, and improve tone and texture using their body’s own healing powers.

PRF treatment has gained immense popularity in recent years due to its remarkable benefits. This revolutionary technique utilizes the patient's own body growth factors and blood to promote tissue healing support. PRF has 10 times the growth factors as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and, therefore, is more therapeutic and effective in stimulating regeneration. In this post, we will describe PRF therapy, explore the top six benefits of PRF treatment, and discuss what to expect from the entire process.
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is an autologous blood concentrate that uses your own blood to help rejuvenate your skin. It contains autologous growth factors that stimulate and enhance the healing response.
Doctors worldwide use PRF to accelerate healing in various areas of the body. PRF is rapidly replacing PRP in medical spas, and Ageless Aesthetics MediSpa has been utilizing PRF injections since 2018. The shift from PRP to PRF is because PRF contains more platelets per mL. PRF also contains Leukocytes (WBC) and Mesenchymal Stem Cells that PRP does not.
With PRF, your blood is spun at a low centrifugation and then prepared for injection, which allows a fibrin matrix to form. The fibrin matrix helps to keep cells more active, allowing for a longer and slower release of growth factors. The rich concentration of cells in PRF will release growth factors over a longer period of time, contributing to an even better rejuvenation process.
Other Treatments Used In Conjunction With PRF For An Enhanced Treatment
Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF), when injected into the dermis or upper layers of the skin, is most effective when activated. When combined with Microneedling or Radio Frequency RF Microneedling, the superficial wounds created by the microneedling will signal trauma to the system and therefore generate more of a healing mechanism in the tissue. We offer PRF injections as an enhancement to be performed when receiving dermal fillers, microneedling, Radio Frequency Microneedling, Level 1, 2, and 3 Scar Treatments, and our Hair Regrowth Treatment.
PRF can be injected into several areas of your face to help with dark circles, tear troughs and deep folds, volume loss, thinning of the skin, wrinkles and fine lines, neck lines, and thinning of the skin on the decolletage. At Ageless Aesthetics MediSpa, PRF injections are also used in our Hair Regrowth Treatment protocols (see our Hair Regrowth with PRF Injections and Exosome Topical Therapy page. A series of 3 to 5 treatments is recommended at 6-week intervals.
After a simple blood draw, your sample is spun in a specialized centrifuge to separate the PRF. Your provider then injects or applies the concentrate to the treatment area, either alone or as part of a layered procedure.
Appointments typically take 45 to 60 minutes. Most guests experience mild redness, swelling, or tenderness at the injection sites, which subsides in 1–3 days. There's little to no interruption to your routine, and makeup can usually be worn the next day (except on open microneedled skin).
PRF is versatile and can be used across the face, scalp, and body to treat a range of concerns. Common uses include:
Because it improves skin quality from the inside out, PRF is often used preventively or to extend the life of other treatments.
PRF Recovery
After a PRF treatment, you may notice some light swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection sites for 1 to 3 days, particularly in delicate areas like the undereyes or scalp. If PRF is combined with microneedling or radiofrequency, the skin may appear pink or slightly sensitive for a bit longer. These are all normal signs of your body’s natural repair process.
We recommend avoiding makeup, vigorous exercise, or heat exposure (such as saunas or hot yoga) for 24 hours post-treatment. A gentle cleanser, proper hydration, and a mineral-based sunscreen will support your skin as it heals. You’ll leave your appointment with personalized aftercare instructions, and our team will remain available to ensure everything is progressing as expected.
PRF Results
Because PRF supports regeneration, results develop gradually over several weeks. Most guests begin to notice improved tone, brightness, and firmness in 4 to 6 weeks, with continued improvements for up to 3 months. A series of treatments (typically 3 to 4) spaced several weeks apart is recommended for best results, especially in the scalp or undereyes.
Results can last 6 to 12 months, depending on the area and your overall skin health. Maintenance treatments may be recommended annually or semi-annually.
PRF is a powerful regenerative tool, but its success depends on thoughtful technique and precise placement. At Ageless Aesthetics, our aesthetic specialists are trained in advanced injection methods, microneedling protocols, and layered scar revision techniques that make the most of what PRF can offer. Whether you're addressing early signs of aging, improving scars, or encouraging hair regrowth, we take a personalized, detail-driven approach to help you reach your goals, naturally and gracefully.
Because the Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) treatment is a byproduct of the patient's blood, disease transmission is not a concern, and the treatment is quite safe.
No, PRF doesn’t replace dermal filler, but it can complement it. PRF improves skin quality and collagen, while filler restores volume. They’re often used together for balanced, natural results.
The true benefit behind the combination of these two treatments is the longevity and level of results. Dermal filler provides your skin with restored fullness in areas that have lost volume over time. The addition of PRF helps sustain those results by jumpstarting your body's own natural regenerative processes.
Theoretically yes. However, you should know that when injected into the lips, PRF creates extreme swelling.
